She disappeared long before she disappeared
She never sent a postcard
She just left
Without remembering any of our names
She never knew who I was
Just the man who lay beside her
On the bed wishing she would remember me
Then one day in the hospital my dad
Gave her some crisps
She said ‘why don’t you give them to Bobby’
She had come back to say goodbye
And then she was gone forever
I still keep those words locked somewhere safe.
