You’ll make it, I know you will,
You’ve come too far and now is not the time.
If only you stopped and thought about it all
The walls you’ve climbed, all the troubles crossed
All the failures faced, all the little victories
Look into the eyes of those beside you
The woman at the table
The man in the street
It’s there, deep set perhaps - but there all the same,
The very same terror as you
A flicker of recognition in both your eyes and then you
move on
So if they can live in temporary quiet desperation
Then so can you
And one day soon you’ll make it across
To where you can start again
I know you will
You’ve come too far, to stop.

ReplyDeleteThank you! Thank you! Thank you!
DeleteAren't most of us doing that...? Isn't that the journey...? To make it through the desperation to the love....? And those of us who reach out often find a hand to hold, someone to remind us that yes indeed we are strong beyond words...can do this life.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder..
