How did your life get to be such a mess?

Did you steal?

Did you drink?

Did you gamble,

Not think?

Did you seek out a thrill?

Did you maim?

Did you kill?

Did you start up a war?

Did you know

What  love’s for?

Did you seek?

Were you weak?

Did your mind

Start to leak?

Did you worship a devil?

Did you run with the night?

It was none of those, friends --

I just wanted to write.
