My father cried the night the trains stopped running.’ It’ll
kill this town stone-dead, mark my words’ - he was right. Folks moved away. The
grocery store shut down, and even the church moved to the next village. Then
one day, an idea came into mine and my brother’s head at the same time. I guess
someone whispered in our ears. My brother was good at mechanical things, and I was the genius for figures - so we came
up with this idea. We ran errands, rented bikes, fetched mail and even brought
the vicar over from the next town.
